Brands Focusing on reducing the Waste from Packaging

For a lot of brands, taking a chance to listen to their consumers, and building minimal packaging is the way to go.  Many brands are starting to learn that too much packaging isn’t just a waste, but bad for the environment, and it actually is responsible for a lot of waste in the landfills.

But some are starting to be more eco-friendly, and here, we’ll talk about the more eco-friendly brands that are out there.

Colgate

This is a toothpaste company known for being environmentally friendly.  They offer toothpaste and tubes that come with HDPE, which is very easy to recycle.

They also now have tubes that are completely recyclable, and they’re being released soon. Their goal is to make sure that all of their packaging is fully recyclable by the time 2025 rolls around.

Nestle

This is a chocolate bar company that we know a lot about.  While it’s great to eat these while you’re out and about, these foil wrappers are not good for blowing out into the street, and they take a long time to decompose. Sometimes, they end up in landfills, where they don’t really decompose.

But Nestle is starting to work similar to how Colgate is and combating the food packaging and its waste.

They’ve created a paper wrapper that’s designed for high speed flow wrapping types of machines.  This means that this packaging is completely recyclable.

Unilever

This is a brand that’s global and is one that has a lot of different names.  Hellmann’s, Magnum, Lipton, and Degree fall under this.

With a lot of the products coming in a bottle packaging that’s black and plastic, this one is different.  It’s different because they make sure that the carbon that’s offered for this is easier to recycle.  However, these changes are also coming to other brands as well, and they’re creating a way to keep the packaging sleek while also getting around the eco issues that come with this. they’re creating a recyclable black pigment, which is very recognizable, and is sorted, and also recycled in a correct manner.

Honest Tea

This is an organic tea company, free and free of pesticides that are there.  This is one that focuses on being ethical in their practices.

The bottles are naturally Cradle to Cradle certified, meaning that they’re sustainable, and are used with different materials, are safe, renewable, and also offer water stewardship.

But it’s more than just bottles made of glass.  They’ve also worked on making their juice bottles sustainable.  The cool thing about this, is that some recycling centers take this, as they do have some recyclable materials.

Most of their bottles do end up being recycled.

Straus Family Creamery

This is a dairy company that’s been around for many years. They’ve been pioneering the organic and eco friendly world, especially for their dairy products. They offer milk that’s organic in glass bottles that are reusable, made up of almost half recycled glass, making this great for sustainability.

But, more than just that, there’s even a recycling incentive they offer to customers.  If you rinse these out, return these back to the stores, you get two dollars back.  They can be used up to 5 times before they have to recycle everything.

The current return rate is up to 80% in most cases, which is very impressive and many times, it keeps the milk containers out of the landfill, a common one that’s seen in a lot of landfills around.

More companies are taking the eco-friendly world by storm, which is something that consumers of all kinds love to see.
